Getting Ready for Christmas – Les Préparations de Noel

I am busy making items for Christmas at the moment.

In the summer I launched my new Etsy shop specifically to sell my own Moulin Designs cross stitch designs and also for lots of handmade items I am hoping to make for sale including various Christmas items.

Here is a little taste of the things I am making and selling:  Voici un aperçu des articles que je suis en train à faire et à vendre:

Bodmin Moor – Fils à Soso – Paisley

Anne Sophie of Fils à Soso made these 2 threads – Bodmin Moor and Paisley to my colour choices.  They are stranded cotton, hand dyed by Anne Sophie in France and come in 8 metre skeins.

Bodmin Moor Paisley

Dominique Bermond from our stitching group in Revel kindly made this cushion for my daughter, Ally to celebrate her marriage to Adam on 12 July 2014.  Dominique used my 2 Fils à Soso threads – Bodmin Moor and Paisley for the stitching.  A really big thank you to Dominique – my daughter is delighted with this new addition to her home!

Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red

Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red is the name of the project, created by Paul Cummins, for the sea of red ceramic poppies which are currently being ‘planted’ at the Tower of London as a memorial to mark the centenary of the start of World War I.  Each poppy represents 1 British or Commonwealth soldier who lost their life in the war – 880,246.  The poppies will all be planted in time for Armistice Day on 11 November and then have all been sold for charity.

Last Sunday, we paid a visit to this remarkable project, along with countless of thousands of other people.  We also took the opportunity to visit the Crown Jewels and walk the ramparts of the Tower.
